Today a couple of us rode the TSS Earnslaw, a steamboat across Lake Whakatipu to Walter Peak Farm where we had a farm tour, afternoon tea, and saw a farm show (sheep shearing and sheep herding demonstrations).

Afterwards, we visited the Kiwi Park to see more animals.

The possum and the lorikeet are both invasive species from Australia. The possum is protected in Australia, but here they are reviled and, reportedly, drivers aim for them if they see one on the road (“you hit them twice to make sure they are dead.”).
They had a really nice kiwi exhibit but no pictures were allowed. The glass in the exhibit was only 6’ tall, so I was able to look over it and observe the kiwis without a barrier. (I was really tempted to reach over and touch one.)
