20251214 Post Falls Dams

We are in between storms, so it seemed like a good day to check out the dams on the Spokane River in Post Falls. I started with North Channel Dam in Post Falls Park.

This headgate (restored) was in use from the late 1800s controlling water in a mill race that powered a lumber mill, shingle mill, and a flour mill.
The headgate and mill race were later used for “Corbin Ditch” a 34 mile irrigation system carrying water to Spokane Valley,

Next I went to Q’emiln Park and hiked to the South Channel and Middle Channel Dams.
